Job Description :
A PostgreSQL Programmer designs, develops, and maintains complex database systems, focusing on PostgreSQL. They write and optimize queries, implement database structures, and work with other developers and stakeholders to meet project requirements.
The task of a PostgreSQL developer includes building database code, energizing the company’s cloud platform, among others. The candidate will build efficient APIs and work closely with the product managers. They will be required to manipulate datasets when required.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain database code in the form of stored procedures, scripts, queries, views, triggers, etc.
- Work closely with the CTO to implement effective and maintainable database coding practices that form an architectural foundation.
- Work with front end developers to define simple yet powerful APIs.
- Work with GIS analysts to implement geospatial processes, queries and reports.
- Work with DBAs to ensure efficiency of database code, integrity of data structures and quality of data content.
- Work with product managers to ensure database code meets requirements.
- Work with DBAs and data analysts to ensure database code is accurately documented.
- Participate as a member in Agile teams, and work with other team members to review user stories, estimate effort to build functionality supporting user stories, and participate in sprint reviews.
Required Skills
- C Programming – Ability to develop, build and troubleshoot C programs
- C Programming Performance Tuning – Use of Perf, Gprof, Gdb a strong plus Linux Systems Programming and Engineering
- Strong familiarity with Linux / Unix, Systems Monitoring and Instrumentation – Use of Strace, Top/VMstat/ IoStat/ System Tap a strong Plus
- Linux Process and Threading based concurrency – Understands Posix Threads, memory and cpu utilization, context switch overhead
- Database – SQL, Postgresql – Query performance troubleshooting and analysis via Explain. Use of Database performance benchmarking tools such as pgbench
- Networking – TCP/IP, HTTP, tcpdum/Wireshark a plus, HTTP and load generation using tools such as ab (apache bench), wrk & curl a plus
- Familiar with build and deploy Can configure and run(Start RPC, Server and Database Processes), Load and initialize system with pre-requisite data.
