Job Description

Together with other software engineers, you will be developing Tesla’s internal tools to streamline the design, permitting, and installation of energy systems and products. The goal of this team is to provide a dependable and expandable platform that can be set up and expanded to accommodate all of the Tesla Energy and Vehicle products that are currently available for purchase and support, as well as those that will be added in the future. Enabling our internal staff to monitor, standardize, automate, and eventually optimize every phase of an energy installation project from beginning to end is the aim of this role and team.

You will be working with fellow software engineers focused on building out Tesla’s internal tools that facilitate process management of the design, permitting, and installation of energy products and systems. This team is focused on building a stable and scalable platform that can be extended and configured for all Tesla Energy and Vehicle products that are sold and supported today, and any that will be introduced in the future. The goal of this role and team is to enable our internal employees with ways to track, standardize, automate, and ultimately optimize all steps taken on an energy installation job from start to finish.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support applications and systems under the team’s scope
• Write clean, maintainable, performant, and well-tested code to implement new features and fix bugs
• Write unit tests, integration tests, and work with QA to coordinate timely regression for new features
• Monitor live system metrics, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot production issues
• Investigate and understand existing system technical functionality and propose technical improvements
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Business stakeholders to plan and prioritize new feature development
• Communicate changes in project estimates, dependencies, and blockers with affected stakeholders quickly
• Own feature development and projects through design, development, testing, and release to production
• Understand and improve the scalability, maintainability, availability, and visibility of applications
• Document newly implemented technologies and application functionality

Qualification & Skills

• A degree in computer science or a similar discipline, or experience that is comparable
• strong knowledge of the core web technologies, including REST, HTTP, AJAX, and JSON. Excellent
• knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/ES6, especially the JS object model and DOM manipulation
• strong knowledge of database concepts, especially SQL database querying and updating
• familiarity with REST principles and best practices for developing and utilizing RESTful APIs
• extensive knowledge of React’s fundamental design concepts and common design patterns;
• familiarity with popular front-end development tools as Vite, NPM, Yarn, etc.
• GraphQL experience is a huge plus.
