Job Description
Provides programs to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and compliance in support of the organization’s financial and tactical business objectives. Provides business practices and processes. Develops, communicates, and trains the organization on business practices and processes.
We are a growing company looking for an efficient systems engineer to help us expand our computing infrastructure. The systems engineer’s responsibilities include working with a team of IT specialists to design, set up and maintain a network of computers, including hardware, software, and system architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain backup and recovery solutions using Cohesity, EMC NetWorker, and Isilon systems.
- Basic understanding of cloud – OCI preferred
- Perform routine backup operations, monitor backup jobs, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Manage data restores as requested, ensuring data integrity and security
- Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and related incidents.
- Develop and maintain backup job documentation, schedules, and reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for project implementation and incident resolution.
- Follow established best practices and compliance requirements for data protection.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support for critical backup and recovery issues
- Participate in audits and support disaster recovery exercises.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proven track record of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX-based systems.
- Experience creating scripts (e.g. using Perl, Ruby, Python) and setting up software for automation.
- Exceptional knowledge of networking technologies (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
- Familiarity with administration, performance tuning, and system monitoring.
- Good communication skills (written, verbal, and face-to-face).
