JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an entry-level role for engineers who want to build a career in industrial automation and manufacturing technology. As an Entry Level IS Engineer at BW Design Group (Chennai), you will work on designing MES (Manufacturing Execution System) applications, including databases and database interfaces, data analytics and reporting, scripting using Python and SQL, and general programming. You will also be involved in control system engineering and support project teams across various client engagements.

This role is ideal for fresh graduates who have a basic understanding of programming languages like Python or C#, along with some knowledge of PLC and SCADA concepts. Candidates who are comfortable working on multiple tasks simultaneously, can communicate clearly with clients and team members, and are eager to grow their technical skills in a manufacturing technology environment will be a great fit for this position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design MES applications including databases and database interfaces for manufacturing environments
• Develop data analytics and reporting solutions using Python, SQL, and related scripting tools
• Program hardware/software integration and perform systems diagnostics to support machine-based control systems
• Design control systems that provide real-time feedback on the production life cycle
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive program documentation for diagnostics, information systems, and data collection
• Support communication setup between systems and peripheral equipment
• Contribute to Control System Engineering initiatives within the Design Group
• Support project teams across various client assignments and deliverables

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Basic programming knowledge in Python and/or C#
• Understanding of PLC and SCADA concepts
• Knowledge of back-end computing infrastructure used in manufacturing (hardware, virtualization, OS, networking, databases)
• Good knowledge in system integration and/or MES application development
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels

QUALIFICATIONS / PREFERRED SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, or Data Analytics & Machine Learning
• Knowledge in AutoCAD Electrical is a plus
• Familiarity with Rockwell PLC Programming is an added advantage
