Roles & Responsibilities

Software Engineer — 0–3 Years

• Develop backend features using Java and a Java-based web framework.
• Build REST APIs based on given requirements.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Write clean, maintainable and testable code.
• Understand existing applications and contribute to feature development.
• Use Git and Linux-based development environments.
• Demonstrate working solutions during the onsite hackathon.

Senior Software Engineer — 3+ Years

• Design and develop backend services and APIs.
• Work with Java-based applications and distributed systems.
• Build and maintain data and message-streaming pipelines.
• Design efficient SQL queries and NoSQL data models.
• Handle application performance and scalability requirements.
• Work with concurrency and high-volume workloads.
• Deploy and troubleshoot applications using containers and infrastructure tools.
• Take ownership of the systems you build and help keep them production-ready.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• 0–3 years: Candidates can apply for the Software Engineer track.

• 2024–2026 graduates with strong Java projects can apply for the Software Engineer track.
• Candidates should have practical experience with SQL and at least one NoSQL database.
• Candidates must have experience with at least one stream-processing technology.
• Hands-on experience setting up, configuring and troubleshooting self-hosted open-source infrastructure is required.
• The programming assessment will be conducted in Java.
• Candidates applying for the onsite stage must be available to travel to Hyderabad.
• Current Vassar Labs employees and their immediate teams are not eligible.

Selection Process

1. Online Test — 1 Hour
The assessment includes MCQs along with one Java programming question and one SQL question.

2. Shortlisting
Candidates are evaluated according to their selected experience track.

3. Onsite Hackathon — Hyderabad
Shortlisted candidates participate in a one-day practical challenge involving development, demonstration and code walkthrough.

4. Technical Interviews
Candidates who clear the hackathon move directly to two technical interview rounds.
