Module 3 : TCS Interview Experiences

Experience 1

I applied for the TCS Off-Campus drive through the TCS NextStep portal. After around three weeks, I received an email for the online assessment.

Round 1: Online Test

The online test had 3 sections:

  1. Quantitative & Logical Ability
    Questions were from percentages, time and work, series, and seating arrangement.
  2. Verbal Ability
    This section included reading comprehension, sentence correction, and synonyms-antonyms.
  3. Programming Section
    There were 2 coding questions based on basic logic and arrays.

All sections were elimination rounds.

After one week, I received a mail saying I was shortlisted for the interview.

Round 2: Technical + HR Interview

The interview was conducted on the TCS iON platform. There was one interviewer who asked both technical and HR questions.

Technical Questions:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • What is OOPS? Explain its four pillars.
  • Difference between abstract class and interface.
  • What is normalization?
  • Write a program to check whether a number is prime.
  • Explain your final year project.

HR Questions:

  • Why do you want to join TCS?
  • Are you willing to relocate?
  • How do you handle pressure?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Do you have any questions for me?

The interview lasted around 25 minutes.
After 10 days, I got the selection mail.


Experience 2

I applied through a college placement drive for the TCS Ninja role. After clearing the written test, I was called for the interview.

Round 1: Written Test

The test had 4 sections:

  • Numerical Ability
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Verbal Ability
  • Programming (basic)

The questions were moderate. Time management was very important.

After 5 days, the shortlisted candidates were informed.

Round 2: Technical Interview

The technical interview was around 20 minutes.

Questions asked:

  • Introduce yourself.
  • What is a pointer?
  • Difference between stack and queue.
  • What is SDLC?
  • Write an SQL query to find the second highest salary.
  • Explain your project architecture.

The interviewer focused mainly on my project and DBMS concepts.

Round 3: HR Interview

The HR round lasted around 15 minutes.

HR Questions:

  • Why TCS?
  • What do you know about our company?
  • Are you comfortable with night shifts?
  • What will you do if assigned a technology you don’t like?
  • What is your long-term goal?

After a week, I received the final result email and got selected.


Experience 3

TCS visited our campus for Digital role hiring. I prepared mainly aptitude and Java.

Round 1: Online Assessment

The assessment had:

  • Aptitude
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Verbal
  • Coding (2 questions)

Coding questions were based on strings and arrays.

After one week, results were announced.

Round 2: Interview (TR + HR Combined)

The interview was taken by a senior project manager.

Technical Questions:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • What is polymorphism?
  • Difference between list and array.
  • What is cloud computing?
  • Write a program to reverse a string.
  • Explain your project challenges.

HR Questions:

  • Why do you want to work in IT?
  • How will you manage if your team speaks a different language?
  • Are you ready to relocate anywhere in India?
  • Can you work under pressure?
  • Do you have any questions?

The interview lasted about 30 minutes.

After 12 days, I got the selection email.


Experience 4

I applied through TCS NQT and was shortlisted for Ninja role.

Round 1: TCS NQT Exam

The test had:

  • Quantitative
  • Reasoning
  • Verbal
  • Programming logic

The questions were not very tough but required speed and accuracy.

Round 2: Technical Interview

The technical round was conducted on Microsoft Teams.

Questions asked:

  • Introduce yourself.
  • What is DBMS?
  • Difference between primary key and foreign key.
  • What is inheritance?
  • Write a program to check palindrome.
  • Why did you choose your project topic?

Round 3: HR Interview

HR Questions:

  • Why TCS?
  • Are you willing to work in support roles initially?
  • What motivates you?
  • What are your short-term goals?
  • Can you join immediately if selected?

The HR was very calm and friendly.
After two weeks, I got my offer letter.


Experience 5

TCS came to our campus for Prime role.

Round 1: Online Test

There were 2 coding questions and aptitude sections.

The coding questions were moderate.

Round 2: Technical Interview

The interviewer focused deeply on core subjects.

Technical Questions:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • What is encapsulation?
  • Difference between C and Java.
  • What is normalization?
  • Explain your project with database design.
  • What is multithreading?

Round 3: Managerial + HR Interview

HR & Managerial Questions:

  • Why should we hire you?
  • What will you do if you fail in a project?
  • How do you manage time?
  • Are you comfortable relocating?
  • Do you have any questions for us?

The interview was around 35 minutes.

After 8 days, I received the final selection mail.
