JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Junior Software Development Engineer at Amadeus in Bangalore, you will be part of a global engineering team working on cutting-edge travel technology solutions built on modern cloud-based infrastructure. Your day-to-day work will involve developing and maintaining Java-based applications, working within cloud environments using Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift, writing and consuming REST APIs, and following Agile/Scrum development practices. You will also participate in code reviews, write documentation, and use monitoring and troubleshooting tools like Grafana and JMeter to ensure system reliability and performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based software solutions as part of an Agile/Scrum development team
• Build, consume, and troubleshoot REST APIs and XML-based integrations for travel technology platforms
• Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
• Work with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB for data storage and retrieval tasks
• Participate actively in code reviews, propose improvements, and follow standard coding best practices
• Use monitoring and troubleshooting tools like Grafana, JMeter, and YourKit to maintain and optimize system performance
• Support CI/CD pipeline activities using Jenkins and contribute to continuous improvement of deployment processes
• Prepare weekly status reports and collaborate with technical leads, business analysts, and cross-site development teams

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Strong command of Java with excellent understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and design patterns
• Good knowledge of REST APIs and experience with XML; familiarity with Edifact is a bonus
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environment usage at the user level
• Hands-on knowledge or exposure to cloud technologies — Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift preferred
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript and HTML is a good-to-have

QUALIFICATIONS / PREFERRED SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE/BTech) or MCA from a recognized university
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodology is preferred; knowledge of waterfall is a plus
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and monitoring tools like Grafana and JMeter is an advantage
• Good troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills are essential for this role
