About Amazon ROC

Amazon’s Relay Operations Center (ROC) is a central operations team responsible for monitoring and managing transportation activities across Amazon’s supply chain. The team works with different stakeholders, including carriers, vendors, Amazon facilities, hubs, and transportation teams, to ensure shipments move smoothly and reach their destinations on time.

ROC manages transportation activities across regions such as North America (NA) and Europe (EU). The team handles real-time operational issues, coordinates with stakeholders, monitors shipment movements, and works on process improvements to make transportation operations more efficient.

The role provides exposure to logistics, transportation management, supply chain operations, data analysis, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication.

Job Description

As a Transportation Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring transportation activities and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues that could affect shipment movement and customer deliveries.

You will work closely with carriers, vendors, drivers, Amazon facilities, warehouses, and other teams to ensure transportation operations remain on track.

The role involves identifying operational exceptions, investigating the cause of issues, taking appropriate action, updating stakeholders, and ensuring problems are resolved within the required timelines.

You may work in Inbound or Outbound transportation operations, depending on business requirements.

Inbound Operations

The inbound team focuses on the movement of shipments from vendors or shippers to Amazon facilities. The role involves monitoring pickups, delivery appointments, transportation delays, and other issues that could affect the arrival of freight.

Outbound Operations

The outbound team focuses on shipments leaving Amazon facilities or origin locations and moving toward carrier hubs or other destinations. The objective is to ensure transportation activities support timely customer order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with carriers, vendors, drivers, Amazon sites, warehouses, and internal business teams.
• Monitor transportation movements and identify delays, exceptions, or operational issues.
• Investigate shipment-related problems and determine suitable solutions.
• Handle activities such as appointment scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations, and transportation updates.
• Track issues and escalate complex or high-impact problems to the appropriate teams.
• Follow up on escalated cases until the issue reaches closure.
• Use Amazon’s internal systems and business tools to research information and make operational decisions.
• Work with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other internal applications.
• Analyze available information and understand the potential impact of operational issues.
• Maintain accurate records and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Meet quality, productivity, and turnaround-time expectations.
• Work effectively within time-sensitive operational requirements.
• Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to existing processes.
• Support transportation capacity, equipment availability, gatehouse, and other operational activities when required.
• Maintain a customer-focused approach while resolving transportation-related problems.

Skills Required

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Basic understanding of logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
• Ability to analyze information and identify the root cause of an issue.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.

Qualifications
