Job Description
The selected candidate will contribute to the development of modern, scalable applications based on a microservices architecture. The position involves writing backend services, developing user-facing functionality, working with relational databases, testing applications, and resolving technical issues.
You will also participate in code reviews, documentation, CI/CD activities, application monitoring, and security-focused development practices. Since the position supports a financial-services-related environment, knowledge of asset or wealth management can be an additional advantage.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain individual services that form part of larger enterprise applications.
- Build backend solutions using Python and ensure the code is reliable, maintainable, and efficient.
- Develop Java-based backend services and integrate them with existing applications and systems.
- Create frontend functionality using JavaScript and connect user interfaces with backend APIs.
- Work with SQL databases, writing efficient queries and supporting database-related development.
- Improve application performance by identifying inefficient code, queries, or system processes.
- Work with senior developers and product teams to understand requirements and convert them into development tasks.
- Participate in peer code reviews and follow established coding standards.
- Write unit, integration, and regression tests to help maintain application quality.
- Investigate software issues, identify their root causes, and implement appropriate fixes.
- Maintain technical documentation covering APIs, configurations, data flows, and operational processes.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automated software build and testing processes.
- Monitor applications through logs, metrics, and dashboards and assist in identifying performance issues.
- Follow secure coding practices related to authentication, authorization, encryption, and data protection.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand changing requirements and implement improvements.
- Apply relevant knowledge of financial services, particularly asset and wealth management, where required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members in both remote and in-office working environments.

Qualifications
Candidates should ideally have:
- Strong working knowledge of Python and experience developing production-quality applications.
- Practical experience with Java, including object-oriented programming and handling application exceptions.
- Knowledge of JavaScript and experience developing web-based functionality.
- Good understanding of SQL, including joins, indexing, query optimization, and relational databases.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and concepts such as service communication, stateless services, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Familiarity with Git/source control and standard software development workflows.
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD, automated builds, testing, and deployment processes.
- Good problem-solving and debugging abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and business teams.
