Role Overview

As a Quality Engineer, you will work with developers, analysts, product teams, and experienced quality professionals to verify that applications and analytics solutions function correctly and deliver reliable results.

The role involves creating and executing test cases, validating data using SQL, identifying software defects, testing APIs and data pipelines, and supporting regression and release testing. Candidates will also get exposure to automation, cloud-based data processes, and testing AI/GenAI applications.

This is an entry-level opportunity, making it suitable for fresh graduates with relevant academic, project, internship, or practical exposure to software testing and data technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Understand business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria with the help of senior team members.
• Create test scenarios, test cases, test data, and supporting documentation.
• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, exploratory, API, UI, and end-to-end testing.
• Check reports and dashboards for data accuracy, calculations, filters, formatting, usability, and access permissions.
• Use SQL queries to compare and validate data between different sources and target systems.
• Verify data completeness, consistency, transformations, reconciliations, and refresh processes.
• Test ETL/ELT workflows, APIs, files, scheduled processes, and cloud-based data operations.
• Perform positive, negative, boundary, and failure-condition testing.
• Support quality testing for AI and GenAI applications by checking responses, relevance, permissions, guardrails, and expected behavior.
• Identify and report defects with clear reproduction steps, expected results, actual results, and supporting evidence.
• Retest resolved issues and help track defects through the testing lifecycle.
• Assist with automated testing scripts for UI, API, data validation, and regression testing.
• Participate in Agile meetings, defect discussions, test-status updates, and release activities.
• Maintain test cases, test data, quality documentation, and testing metrics.
• Contribute ideas to improve test coverage, quality processes, and overall delivery.

Skills Required

• Basic understanding of software testing and QA concepts.
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and defect life cycle.
• Ability to convert requirements into practical test scenarios and test cases.
• Basic SQL knowledge, including queries, joins, filters, aggregations, and data comparison.
• Understanding of data-quality concepts such as accuracy, completeness, consistency, uniqueness, validity, and timeliness.
• Familiarity with testing web applications, APIs, dashboards, reports, or data pipelines through projects, internships, or coursework.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reconciliation.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar defect/test management platforms.
• Basic programming or scripting knowledge in Python, JavaScript, C#, Java, or a similar language.
• Exposure to Selenium, Playwright, Postman, or other testing/automation tools is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Power BI, QlikView, Qlik Sense, SSRS, or similar reporting tools is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of databases, REST APIs, ETL/ELT, data warehouses, and cloud technologies.
• Interest in AI/GenAI testing, including prompt-based applications, RAG systems, response evaluation, and guardrails.
• Awareness of Agile development, version control, CI/CD, and release testing is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or an equivalent qualification.
• Freshers can apply for this entry-level opportunity.
• Candidates with relevant academic projects, internships, certifications, or practical experience in software testing, SQL, data analytics, or programming will be suitable.
• Knowledge of ISTQB Foundation Level or other software-testing certifications is an added advantage.
