Overview of the Hiring Steps

Deloitte follows a multi-stage recruitment process for freshers, which includes:

  1. Resume Screening (mainly for Off-Campus & Referral drives)
  2. Online Assessment Test
  3. Versant Communication Test
  4. Group Discussion (GD) or JAM Round
  5. Interview (Technical + HR together)

Deloitte Hiring Process (Detailed)


1. Resume Screening

Elimination: 60%+ candidates removed here

  • Mainly happens in Off-Campus or Referral drives.
  • Deloitte uses an ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to filter resumes.
  • The ATS checks keywords, formatting, and relevance before moving a candidate to the next round.

(On-Campus drives sometimes skip this step.)


2. Online Assessment Test

Elimination: 65%+ candidates removed

Conducted on the SHL platform, total duration 90 minutes.

It has 4 sections:

  1. Quantitative & Logical Reasoning – 20 questions
  2. English – 10 questions
  3. Computer Fundamentals – 20 questions
  4. Coding – 2 problems

3. Versant Communication Test

A 20-minute automated communication evaluation with 63 questions.
A bot asks questions and records your responses.

Sections include:

  • Reading
  • Repeating Sentences
  • Q&A
  • Sentence Formation
  • Story Retelling
  • Open-ended Questions

Cutoff: Around 75%
Only strong speakers move forward.


4. Group Discussion (GD) or JAM Round

Elimination: 70%+ candidates removed

Deloitte may conduct either of the two:

Group Discussion

Candidates discuss given topics such as:

  • Current Affairs
  • Politics
  • Technology trends

(This round is less common.)

JAM (Just-A-Minute) Round

More commonly conducted.
Every candidate gets a topic and must speak for 1 minute.
Example topics:

  • Cryptocurrency
  • Blockchain
  • Security
  • Biometrics
  • Agri-Tech
  • Internet of Things (IoT)

5. Interview Round (Technical + HR Combined)

Elimination: 80%+ candidates removed

Deloitte usually conducts a single panel interview, where both Technical and HR panelists evaluate the candidate together.

Technical Part

Covers:

  • Programming languages
  • Basic coding
  • CS fundamentals
  • Projects
  • Certificates
  • Internships
  • Resume-based questions

Interview duration: 30–60 minutes, sometimes longer.

HR Part

Checks cultural and behavioural fit.
Typical questions include:

  • Are you comfortable relocating?
  • Can you work night shifts?
  • How do you handle pressure?
