I was shortlisted for the Infosys Specialist Programmer (SP) role through the Infosys SP and DSE On-Campus Drive held in April 2022. The Online Assessment consisted of three coding questions. I successfully solved two of them, and although I attempted the third, not all test cases passed. Despite not fully completing the assessment, I was shortlisted for the interview round.
I received the assessment results after two weeks, and the interview invite came one week later.
The interview was conducted on Microsoft Teams, and it lasted for approximately one hour. There was a single interviewer who handled both the technical and HR portions of the interview.
The discussion began with introductions. The interviewer shared his details first and then asked me to introduce myself. After that, he verified my ID and completed a few formalities before moving on to the technical questions.
A major portion of the interview focused on my projects and internship experience. He also asked about my HackerRank profile, followed by some coding tasks and theoretical questions from my academic subjects.
Some of the questions asked included:
Project-related questions:
I had also completed an internship at a tech startup, so he asked questions such as:
HR-focused questions:
That concluded the interview. After about a month, I received the results and was happy to know that I had been selected.
I took part in the Infosys SP and DSE Placement Drive conducted by my college in June 2022. The entire selection process consisted of two rounds. The first was an online assessment, and the second was a combined Technical + HR interview.
The online test consisted of three coding questions:
I was able to solve all three problems completely and cleared all test cases, which helped me get shortlisted for the Specialist Programmer interview round.
During the pre-placement talk, we were informed that there would be two elimination rounds — Technical and HR. However, Infosys combined both rounds into a single interview session.
The panel consisted of two interviewers — one handled the technical part and the other took the HR part.
The interview lasted for approximately one hour. The technical interviewer was very knowledgeable and questioned me in detail about almost everything mentioned on my resume — including academics, projects, technical skills, and even hobbies. He also asked about my experience in HackWithInfy and participation in similar competitions.
Some of the questions asked were:
After a couple of weeks, I received the selection email from Infosys.
Infosys visited our campus for recruitment, offering multiple roles including DSE (Digital Specialist Engineer) and SP (Specialist Programmer). Eligible students were required to appear for the online assignment round, which consisted of three coding problems with a duration of three hours.
The questions were as follows:
After the assessment, about half of the candidates qualified for the interview round.
Only one interview was conducted that included both technical and HR components. The interview took place two days after the test results were announced. My interview slot was at 12:30 PM, and I joined the meeting a few minutes early.
The interviewer began right on time. He greeted me warmly and asked about my day, which helped ease my nerves and made the interaction comfortable. After that, he introduced himself and requested my introduction. He also verified my ID card.
He had a copy of my resume in front of him and asked questions based on its contents.
calloc and malloc? That concluded the interview. After two days, I received an email confirming my selection for the Digital Specialist Engineer role.
I participated in the Infosys SP and DSE Placement Drive after receiving confirmation from my college that I was eligible. I received a PPI opportunity for the DSE role, and in this article, I am sharing my complete experience.
The first round was an online assessment consisting of three coding questions with different difficulty levels. I was able to solve one question completely and about 80% of the second one. The third question remained unsolved.
I did not expect to be shortlisted, but to my surprise, I got selected for the interview.
Since I solved only one full question and partially solved the second, I was shortlisted for the DSE role. If I had solved all three questions fully, I would have been shortlisted for the SP role.
Even though it was an on-campus drive, my interview was scheduled almost a month later in May. It was conducted on MS Teams and lasted about 30–35 minutes. I was very nervous initially because of internet issues, but thankfully they didn’t affect the interview.
The interviewer started by introducing herself and asked me to show my ID card. After that, she asked for my self-introduction and proceeded with a mix of technical and HR questions.
Some of the technical questions asked were:
I answered these questions confidently, after which she moved to HR-based questions.
Some of the HR questions included:
This summarises my entire Infosys interview experience for the DSE role.
Our college officially announced that the placement season would begin in the first week of May, and the first company scheduled to visit the campus was Infosys.
Infosys conducted a pre-placement talk, where they introduced two new roles being offered through campus recruitment:
| Role | Package |
|---|---|
| Specialist Programmer (SP) | ₹9.5 LPA |
| Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) | ₹6.5 LPA |
They also explained that the hiring process would include three rounds:
However, they mentioned that the interview rounds might be combined depending on time and the number of qualified students.
According to our college, students who wanted to participate needed to fulfil the following:
Since I met all the requirements, I began my preparation immediately.
The online test included three coding problems to be completed in three hours. The difficulty levels were:
I successfully cleared all test cases for the first two questions, and although the third one was very challenging, I managed to pass 4 out of 6 test cases.
A week later, I received an email with the list of shortlisted students, and to my surprise, I was shortlisted for the Specialist Programmer (SP) interview.
The interview was held one week after the test results, giving me enough time to prepare. Infosys decided to merge both Technical and HR rounds for faster processing.
The interview took place online via MS Teams, and there were two interviewers — a technical panelist and an HR representative.
The interview started with the usual request: “Introduce yourself.”
These are some of the questions I remember:
The interview lasted for around one hour. After completing all the questions, they ended the session.
A week later, I received my results, and I was selected for the Infosys Specialist Programmer role.
